Digital Content Library
The Digital Content Library (DCL) is an online repository of audio, video and image materials from many different collections across the University of Minnesota. Together, there are over 200,000 learning objects representing a variety of disciplines for use in teaching and learning. Sources include purchased and licensed content, original and unique research materials and donations, and copy photography.
Access to the DCL is available to all University faculty, students, and staff. There are different levels of access based on these groups:
- Everyone will have access to thumbnails and the cataloguing information.
- Undergraduates and staff will have access to audio and the smaller sizes of images (screen size) and video.
- Faculty and graduate students will have access to the larger images (projection size) and video.
Most items are password protected because of copyright considerations. These materials must be used for educational purposes only. Please view the DCL copyright information or contact the DCL at dcl@umn.edu for more information.
Digital Content Library Order Form (PDF). Fill out this order form and then either print or send to us via email. You can order images, audio, or video materials. Please fill out one form per source (book, video, CD, etc.). Bring the materials to Heller Hall 460 for processing. If you are submitting content via campus mail, send it to Room 338 HellerH. Our policy is to accept materials for processing from legally acquired content, preferably from University of Minnesota collections. Commercially available materials should be purchased by the department or individual whenever possible. We reserve the right to make the decision on what materials will be digitized in order to protect the copyright on the content.
